The Challenge

As Hong Kong International Airport is preparing for the recovery of travel business, surface disinfection has become more essential to minimise the risk of Covid 19 transmission. Luggage Trolleys in particular are frequently touched by human hands, however traditional disinfection method is usually laborious or inefficient.

Our Solution

We designed and built an automatic disinfection robot that hovers on top of a line of luggage trolleys to inactivate bacteria and virus. This robot is self guided with various modes of operation for different luggage trolleys. It also utilised the latest Far UVC (wavelength: 222nm) technology that is safe to human exposure compare to traditional UVC lamps (wavelength: 254nm).
